We are Ben and Rachel, the founders of First Light Mountain Guides.
Our love for the outdoors began at an early age. We were both lucky to grow up in active households where walking, exploring, and spending time in the mountains were a big part of our lives. These early experiences gave us the opportunity to learn outdoor skills, understand the countryside, and develop a connection with the places we explore.
We are both neurodiverse and have specific learning difficulties (SpLDs), and our experiences have shaped the way we approach the outdoors and support others. Spending time outside helped us build confidence, develop independence, and find a space where we could learn in our own way.
We understand that everyone experiences the outdoors differently, and we believe that with the right encouragement and support, everyone can discover their own confidence outside.
First Light Mountain Guides was created from our shared passion for the outdoors and a desire to give others the same opportunities we were fortunate to have. Through our guided adventures and Mini Explorers sessions, we aim to create welcoming experiences where people can explore, learn new skills, and enjoy the benefits of spending time in nature.
We believe the outdoors should be accessible to everyone, and we are passionate about helping people discover their own connection with the mountains and countryside.
